Minton Hand Painted Floral Celeste Blue & Raised Gold & Gilt Ormolu Compote. Nice mid 19th century English bone china dish. Hand painted with pink roses and other flowers in pink, purple, red, orange, and yellow in the center framed by a green laurel leaf entwined with purple ribbons. With a celeste blue border with raised got dolts, crosses, and scrollwork. Gold gilding along the edge. The bone china dish is probably made by Minton during the 1850s. A plate in the same form is pictured in the Dictionary of Minton. It has been mounted after production on a 19th century gilt ormolu brass base in in a Rococo scrollwork and shell design. The dish has crazing typical of English bone china and some wear to the gilding, but no chips or cracks. Also has wear and tarnish to the gilt ormolu base.
Measures approximately 7 inches wide x 5 1/2 inches tall. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
