The horizontal gold lines breaking the blue are painted with a yellow wash. Each one is topped by yellow flower having green leaves & pink center. It has gold on the rims separated from the blue by a narrow band of yellow. The smaller serving trays repeat the same pattern that is on the larger rectangular tray.CONDITION: The condition of this set of trays is excellent. We can find no defects or damage. There is some wear on the smaller serving trays. See the photos as we have given a full frontal view of each one.
This is definitely use & age-appropriate. There is less wear on the larger tray. We have included a full frontal view and close-ups in photos #2-5. Look at the photos to judge this for yourself. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, scratches, repairs or hairlines.
DIMENSIONS: The larger rectangular tray measures 12 1/2" by 7 3/16" with a height of 1 1/16. The smaller serving trays are square measuring 5 3/8" by 5 3/8" with a height of 7/8. Formed the trading and decorating company in 1876 which evolved into Noritake. Noritake Company has a rich history of producing fine bone china all the way from January 1, 1904 when the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd - the forerunner to the present Noritake Company - was formed in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan. Registry for a Noritake backstamp for importing is 1911.
The backstamp on each piece is the red M-in-Wreath Mark. The M-in-Wreath Mark is attributed to Noritake and its forerunner in the 1890s to 1921 time period. In Collecting Noritake A to Z Art Deco & More , David Spain shows that Noritake substituted Japan for Nippon in their backstamps starting in 1918. In ABCs of Collecting Nippon Porcelain , Van Patten attributes the M-in-Wreaths mark #47 to since 1911.
